My background is quite conventional, purchasing and logistics when I was employed by German companies.

In about 1992  Barry Williams developed severe arthritis in his hands, this he controlled by diet which arrested any further progression of the disease.

A friend suggested Barry Williams try acupuncture and after 5 or 6 treatments he  returned home, sat in the chair then felt a tingling down his  arms, in his  hands and in  ankles together with a sensation that can only be  described  as if crystals were breaking up  in his  hands and ankles. The pain went.

His  consultant told him that he had gone into remission. He has  been  in remission for  20 years and is  happy with that. This made such an impression on him that he decided to change his career and retrain as an acupuncturist. He qualified in 1997 and is a fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council.

For 3 years Barry  Williams and Liza Wilmot operated a Chronic Pain Clinic within the Birmingham NHS. Unfortunately due to Government spending cuts funding was withdrawn.

Initially he practiced in the clinic of the College of  Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington and Warwick as a resident practitioner

Liza Wilmot BA(Hons) Lic Ac MBAcC, MB ChB MRCPsych

Liza Wilmot was for many years a consultant psychiatrist working in the NHS. She  became interested in traditional acupuncture after gaining much personal benefit from treatment and began recommending it to her patients. On retirement she trained  at The College of Traditional Acupuncture, Warwick out of interest with no real plan to go into practice. However she found it all so fascinating that she have continued.

She enjoys teaching medical students at Warwick University about acupuncture and complementary therapies.  I am Head of Biomedicine at the Acupuncture Academy.

I am a  fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council.
